It was 2013. Life had just thrown me a curveball — a divorce that I hadn’t seen coming. My friends saw me struggling and did what good friends do — they didn’t ask too many questions. They just said “Chal, Thailand chalte hain.” This was how I became Ajay Bansal — India’s Thailand Expert.

Our group was 2 men and 3 women. None of us had been to Thailand before. But the moment we landed and stepped out — neon signs everywhere, music spilling out of every corner, smells of street food mixing with the sea air, massage parlours at every turn, tuk-tuks weaving through the night — I knew this was not like anything I had ever seen.

The rest of the group did the tourist thing — saw the sights, ate the food, went to bed at a reasonable hour. But me and one other girl? We were built differently. While the others slept, we were out. Every night. Every lane. Every experience. I came back to the hotel at 6 in the morning more than once — not because I was lost, but because Pattaya kept offering something new around every corner and I simply could not say no.

That trip didn’t fix the divorce. But it did something better — it showed me who I really was. A traveller. An explorer. Someone who would rather sleep on the flight home than miss a single night in Bangkok.

From traveller to Thailand expert

The pen story — how small gestures change everything

On a 50-person corporate tour, I carried 100 pens on the flight. When the immigration forms came mid-air, I handed one to every single passenger. At 2 am at a foreign airport, filling forms with no pens — that chaos never happened on my tours. That’s the Mast Yatri difference.

The medical kit — because Bangkok happens

I noticed a pattern early on — every group tour had a few people falling ill. Headaches, fever, upset stomach, travel sickness. So I started carrying a full medical kit. Medicines for headaches, vomiting, fever, and more. While other tour leaders were calling the hotel reception at midnight, I had it sorted in 2 minutes. No drama, no panic, no ruined morning.

The visa trick that got me my first corporate deal

Thailand visa at the airport costs Rs 4,000. I showed clients how to apply from India for Rs. 2,600 — and charged Rs. 500 as a facilitation fee. They still saved Rs. 900 per person. No travel company had ever told them this. Word spread. My first corporate client — Ozone (glass facade company) — came through a referral. I went with them, held their hands throughout, and came back with a reputation no travel agent could match.

What mastyatri.com is really about

This is not a travel agency website. This is a goldmine — built over 10 years of real boots-on-ground experience. Whether you are:

A solo traveller wanting to explore Bangkok on a budget
A couple planning a romantic trip to Phuket or Krabi
A family wanting a safe, fun Thailand holiday
A corporate planner organising incentive tours for 50–500 people
A dealer/distributor group looking for beyond-the-ordinary experiences

You will find real, detailed, honest guides here. Like how to reach Pattaya from Suvarnabhumi Airport in just THB 150 — with exact gates, turns, and the 7-Eleven on the way.

“I screwed the taxi guys. But I saved you money. That’s the deal.”

COVID hit. But mastyatri.com survived.

COVID was the biggest jolt of my life. Years of hard work, hundreds of trips, thousands of kilometres walked — everything paused overnight. I took loans to keep this website alive. Because I knew — when travel comes back, people will need real information more than ever. And here we are.

A note on the content

mastyatri.com covers all of Thailand — including adult entertainment. Not because I want to shock anyone, but because thousands of Indians travel to Thailand every year and nobody gives them honest, safe, practical information about what actually exists. I do. For adults, by an adult, with zero judgment.

This website is for solo travellers, families, couples, and corporate groups. All are welcome.
