Weekend Market – Phuket Top Five Markets

Phuket Weekend Market is the largest of the night markets on the island. Phuket Weekend Market (Naka Market) is the name given by tourists to this overgrown Phuket town night bazaar.

Things get going at around four o’clock in the afternoon when the sun is going down and it closes after nine at night. You can divide the Naka Market into two sections: 1) the shopping and 2) the food which is also a lot of fun, don’t miss it!

Opening Hours: Saturday & Sunday from 16:00 til 21:00

Location: Talad Tai Rot is located along Chao Fa West Road, Phuket’s main thoroughfare, one kilometre south of Central Festival shopping mall and is opposite Wat Naka, a Buddhist temple. Take a left at the first set of traffic lights.

Indy Market

It’s not huge, and most of the stalls sell arty items and clothes and there’s some food and drink stalls too.

The Indy Market takes place on Thursday and Friday evenings from 4 pm to 10.30pm. The streets are lined with new shops mostly dedicated to teens and young fashion mixed with few bars and restaurants such as the new ‘Eatz’, and a live band to add to the fun mood.

Certainly worth a visit combined with dinner or drinks in Phuket Town.

Sunday Walking Street Market

It starts late afternoon around 4 pm and continues until about 10 pm every Sunday. The main entrance of Phuket Walking Street is on the eastern (Phuket Road) side of Thalang Road at which a superb wooden Chinese-style gate has been installed.

The weekend market is much bigger, but the official name for this Sunday walking street is “Lard Yai”. The two main items sold at Phuket Walking Street are food and souvenirs. Get ready lots of food, entertainers, and stalls selling arts and crafts, clothes, bags, hats, plants, antiques and more.

As day turns to night the street comes alive. It gets busier around 6:30 pm normally. The Lard Yai has become very popular, a place to hang out on Sunday evening for locals, and a good way of showcasing the old town.

Opening Hours: Every Sundays from 16:00 – 22:00
Location: Thalang Road in Phuket Old Town

Karon Temple Market

Karon Temple Market is anything but difficult to visit the market in the event that you stay close to Karon shoreline, the Karon Temple Market happens in the sanctuary grounds on Tuesdays and Saturdays in the late evening.

The local market is always a good place to get a slice of local life, and you can find markets all over Phuket. As always, lots of food available as well as clothes, books, makeup, toys etc.

Address: Patak Rd, Karon, Mueang Phuket District, Phuket 83100, Thailand.
