Solo traveling is the new segment, which the travel industry is gearing up. There has been almost 25% growth in this segment alone. The other surprise is that 80% of solo travelers are women. The packages that the solo travelers are buying under this category are adventure sports. This is happening due to the growing confidence for travelers to go alone. The vast information available on the internet and the all-inclusive packages also contribute to solo traveling.
Solo traveling had been associated with people who are divorced, widowed or people who were never married. They also type cast as travelers looking for love. This mindset is changing, as the solo travelers are also couples who due to work or other reason are not able to go together. Traveling today has become a necessity due to work overload and other factors. My first solo traveling happened because the three people who were supposed to go with me bailed out at the last movement. I had made reservation hence I went by myself. Today I thank them as that travel reinvented me.
I did everything that I have written in the heading of this blog. I came back with a business idea where the niche of my travel website is single or solo traveling. In order to have a great solo traveling experience, you should do a lot of homework to the place of your visit. My blogs carry that to the point and detailed information. The Traveling Pain Points
The travel industry is not yet ready for giving value for money for the solo travelers. The packages designed are for double occupancy and not on per person basis. You almost pay as high as 100% because the packages are for double occupancy. It should have been the other way round you should be paying less because you will use fewer towels and be utilizing fewer facilities. Even if you get single bedroom you will get somewhere in the corner and the room will be without a window. Some of the restaurant’s menus are also not single friendly. You pay more as you are not able to finish the full meal by yourself.
The good news is this year 2017; things have started to shift towards solo traveling. Some of the websites are making package deals for singles. You even pay less on these packages. The travel guides are also affordable with these packages. The cruise ships are still lagging behind in this segment. They have fewer or no single rooms and the rooms are not very attractive.
